A small deciduous tree with fleshy drupe fruits and peeling green bark and resinous sap. Native to Indian dry forests. It is the most abundant Asian species of Commiphora of flowering plants in the Burseraceae family.
Medicinal properties
The resin contains aromatic terpenoids, Commiphora resins traditionally are used as antiseptic, anti-inflammatory agents. Used for respiratory and skin issues. It shows antifungal, antiectoparasite, and antiviral activities.
