A medium deciduous tree that grows about 9 to 15 m tall that yields aromatic Indian frankincense resin. Native to Indian and north western dry regions.
Medicinal properties
The resin extracts rich in boswellic acids are used in Ayurveda due to its anti-inflammatory properties for joint health and may prevent the loss of cartilage. It can be an effective painkiller. They also have traditional roles in respiratory issues and digestive disorders and are used in topical remedies for skin.
